When we say Barcelona, people usually think about sandy beaches and modern architecture. So, they usually go during summertime to get the best of both worlds. But if you're not really into getting some Vitamin Sea and would rather explore the city and its vast culture, an October trip to Barcelona is something you should consider.

Here are some of the things you can enjoy in Barcelona this October.

1. Marvel at the beauty of modern architecture
Because October is considered as an off-peak month, you get to enjoy a less crowded Barcelona. This is your chance to explore the works of famous architects like Antoni Gaudí (Basílica de la Sagrada Família | La Pedrera | Park Güell) and Lluís Domènech i Montaner (Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau | Palau de la Música Catalana) -- all UNESCO World Heritage Sites -- without the sea of tourists flocking from every corner.

2. Go on a gastronomic adventure
Remember, because it is off-peak, everything is relatively cheaper in October. Take this chance to satisfy your taste buds and your pockets as you try out different local restaurants around the city.

3. Explore the city on foot or by bike.
The weather in Barcelona in October is perfect for exploring the city. As it's just starting to get cooler, most days are still sunny and warm without the stifling humidity of summer.

4. Rummage for treasures at the local flea market
Again, thanks to the perfect weather and small volume of tourists, visiting an outdoor market is perfect in October. Try visiting Encants Vells Flea Market to connect with the locals, find hidden gems and enjoy an authentic outdoor market experience.

5. Enjoy a wide variety of festivals
If you think Barcelona will sleep through its off-peak season, think again. October in Barcelona is known for its various festivals celebrating culture, music and the arts.

Overall, the weather as well as the off-peak crowd and rates make October a perfect time to visit Barcelona. Plan that beach trip elsewhere and enjoy Barcelona this October!
